Walton Oaks Adventure Center is Oaks Ministries after-school program for the prek-6th grade residents of Walton Apartments. This is a Christ centered program whose aim is to share the love of Christ to our students. We also deliver additional academic support and enrichment opportunities in a safe environment in order to further develop and help our kids succeed in school and life. Everything we do at Walton Oaks is because of the gospel.
Our heart behind establishing the adventure center was to introduce our students to King Jesus and share the
love of Christ with them
Adventure Center Team Leader Position
The Adventure Center Team Leader position is a part-time hourly position, with a 10-month work schedule, beginning in August and ending in May. This position pays $14 an hour for 16 hours a week Monday through Friday from 3pm-6pm and Wednesdays 6-7pm for staff devotion.
Skills and Qualifications Needed
Needs to have experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting, preferably within a faith-based context. Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and handle responsibilities effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children and families. Commitment to upholding the values and teachings of Oaks Ministries, with respect for diverse perspectives and beliefs. Ability to pass a background check and meet other requirements for working with children and youth. Strong understanding of biblical principles and Christian faith. Ability to effectively communicate and engage with children in a positive and nurturing manner. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and volunteers. Patience, compassion, and empathy in working with diverse groups of children.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead Bible-based lessons, activities, and discussions for children enrolled in the after school program.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters spiritual growth and development for the students who attend.
- Create and implement homework plans for the students who attend the after school program. Must be able to think through tutoring initiatives, and educational activities as needed.
- Supervise children during program hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Oversee recess and any outdoor activities.
- Developing age-appropriate activities, projects, and lessons that cater to the needs and interests of the participants (Social Studies, Science)
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Delegate appropriate responsibilities and help train interns who are employed at the Adventure Center.
- Assist various club leaders and interact with students while they attend various clubs at the adventure center.
Overall, the Team Leader Position plays a critical role in creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive outside of school hours. By effectively managing operations, fostering positive relationships, and promoting ongoing improvement, they contribute to the success and impact of this
program.
